Imam Khamenei met this morning with the MPs and the Speaker of the Majlis. Speaking at the meeting, His Eminence explained that the domineering powers of the world are plotting to weaken Iran’s economy, foment discord among government officials and undermine Islamic beliefs.

Ayatollah Khamenei stressed the need for cooperation between the Majlis and the administration and stated that the law has the final say on everything.

The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution expressed his gratitude for the clear and decisive positions adopted by the Majlis against the greed of America and other domineering powers. His Eminence said that the Iranian nation has accurate and clear insight into global confrontations and the goals of the order of domination. “The main goal of the all-out propaganda of the international order of domination is to create confusion and to put obstacles in the way of nations’ awareness and insight, but the Iranian nation has increased its awareness and insight on a daily basis.”

Ayatollah Khamenei said that it is necessary for the Majlis and the administration to maintain their firm position against the enemies of Islam and Iran, further adding: “The confrontation between the Islamic Revolution and the arrogant powers will continue until the arrogant powers despair of dealing a blow to the Revolution. Of course thanks to divine grace and the resistance of our people and government, the position of the Islamic Republic has been strengthened over time and enemy’s position has been weakened during this confrontation.”

His Eminence said that predicting the plot of the domineering powers and preparing appropriate plans against them will definitely bring about defeat for the enemies. Explaining the goals of the current plot of the arrogant powers, he said that the enemy has clearly focused on economic issues in order to paralyze Iran’s economy and to make the people disappointed. He added that this clear position of the enemy is a warning that the Majlis, the administration and all government officials serving in different sectors should focus their attention on “economic jihad”.

Ayatollah Khamenei said that fomenting discord among the organizations in charge of managing the country is the second goal of the order of domination. He stressed: “All government officials should be vigilant. They must not let differences of opinion and taste result in conflict.”

The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution referred to the post-election fitna of the year 1388 and added: “Even from an optimistic point of view, the great and inexcusable sin of the seditionists was that they turned their doubts into a challenge for the Islamic system and they harmed the country and the Islamic system.”

Ayatollah Khamenei said that avoiding discord is a national duty that is necessary to protect Islam, the Revolution and Iran. “Different parliamentary factions should go beyond their personal tendencies and tastes and they should play a role in countering the enemy’s evil goal of fomenting discord in the country.”

The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution said that the third goal of the enemies’ plot is to undermine Islamic beliefs and to promote heretical ideas among the Iranian nation and other Muslim nations.

His Eminence said that western media have launched widespread propaganda in order to influence the minds of the youth of Egypt, Tunisia and other countries of the region. He added: “Promoting different kinds of corruption and creating religious doubts are the clear goal of the plot developed by the order of domination in order to counter Iran and the wave of Islamic Awakening in the region.”

The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution explained the ways of countering this plot and stressed: “With its firm philosophical and ideological foundations and with its enthusiastic and competent manpower, undoubtedly the Islamic system is capable of countering this multi-dimensional plot, provided that we pay attention to two requirements.”

Ayatollah Khamenei said that avoiding arrogance and lack of vigilance are two requirements for countering the organized attack of the enemies. “If we ignore primary issues and engage in secondary issues or if we underestimate the enemy in an arrogant way, there will be a serious danger of defeat against the enemy.”

His Eminence said that all MPs, all executive and judiciary officials and all people should be completely vigilant in this regard. He reiterated: “All those who have been given a responsibility should consider themselves in the vast arena of the Iranian nation’s confrontation with the enemies of Islam and the Revolution, and they should fulfill their responsibility keeping this point in mind.”

Ayatollah Khamenei highlighted the importance of vigilance against the overt and covert plots of the order of arrogance and added: “As our magnanimous Imam said, any action that makes people move within the enemy’s framework and any action that harms the nation and the country are among the great sins which will not be forgiven by God because it is practically impossible to repent of such actions and to make up for the harm that they do to the nation.”

Addressing government officials, Ayatollah Khamenei reiterated: “God has placed a heavy responsibility on our shoulders, and we should fulfill this responsibility in a firm way.”

His Eminence said that it is natural for the enemy to try to harm the Iranian nation. “In a battlefield, everybody tries to harm the enemy. The domineering powers are hiding a dagger behind their soft tone, and they are waiting for the Iranian nation and government officials to let down their guard so that they can stab the nation. Therefore, it is necessary to maintain this vigilance.”

The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution said that collective piety and individual piety are both essential and added: “Members of different groups and movements should enjoy both individual and collective piety. This is because pious members of a group will suffer from deviation because of the mistakes made by the group as a whole.”

His Eminence provided an example in this regarding, saying: “The movement which was known as the leftist movement and used to shout good slogans in the beginning of the Revolution ignored collective piety in spite of the fact that some of its members were pious. The situation became so bad that the seditionists who were opposed to Imam Hussein (a.s.), Islam and Imam Khomeini (r.a.) started to rely on them. This shows that ignoring collective piety is a huge threat.”

Ayatollah Khamenei said that the decision of the Majlis to self-monitor its activities is a manifestation of collective piety and added: “Of course there were certain people who said that the decision would work against the freedom of the MPs, but this is wrong and the philosophy behind this decision is to supervise the possible deviation of certain MPs so that the reputation of this essential legislative body is not stained because of the behavior of certain MPs.”

His Eminence referred to different factions of the Majlis and added: “Nobody is stressing that these factions should become one and the same because differences of political opinion and taste are natural, but these factions should take care not to turn differences of taste into conflict, and in their debates they must not forget the issues related to America, Israel and the enemies of Islam and the Imam.”

The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution referred to the upcoming parliamentary election and advised the MPs not to stop their activities because of the election.

Ayatollah Khamenei said that approaching owners of power and wealth is a great threat and added: “If somebody approaches owners of power and wealth in order to ensure his presence in the next Majlis, his reprehensive action will not be forgiven by God and he will definitely suffer from divine retribution. Moreover, such actions have a negative effect on society.”

The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution also advised the MPs to cooperate with the executive branch and said that the law has the final say on everything. He said that it is possible for the Majlis to facilitate implementation of its legislation and maintain its independence at the same time.

Ayatollah Khamenei stressed: “Of course when a bill is ratified by the Majlis, the administration should try its best to act on the basis of that law without complaining.”

The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution added: “The structure of the executive branch is good and favorable, and the administration is working hard. And the Majlis and the administration should help each other.”

The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution said that leniency and compromise between the Majlis and the administration are favorable and added: “Compromise with the enemy is not good, but leniency is necessary for the country and for the relationship between the Majlis and the administration.”

His Eminence referred to the upcoming parliamentary election and said that elections are the flag of the Islamic Republic. “In spite of all the efforts to create a negative atmosphere, all elections have been held in the Islamic Republic without any delay, which shows the importance of elections for the Islamic Republic.”

Ayatollah Khamenei said that holding 30 elections in the last three decades is the Islamic Republic’s flag of honor and a sign of democracy in the country. He reiterated: “In spite of all the bad behaviors and all the claims, our elections have been transparent and nobody has been able to prove a claim that goes against this fact.”

The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution urged the officials of the three branches of the government to maintain respect for the election and added: “Nobody is allowed to interfere in the elections in any way so that elections are held according to the legal procedure and parliaments are formed on the basis of the people’s opinions and choices.”
